Mountain Fun

We just returned from a wonderful 5 day mountain vacation with Corbin's family. Chesson, who loves to be the center of attention, was happy to put on a show for G'daddy, Gigi, Uncle Lawton, and Aunt Sarah. We were so hoping he would start crawling for them. It turns out, he's not quite ready to crawl....but, he is rocking and scooting a little on all fours. It's pretty cute, if I do say so myself.

I had no idea...

Remember how I said I was really proud of Chesson for getting himself into a sitting position. I would like to take it back...right now. I had no idea how this new skill would affect nap times and night sleep. This sweet boy used to take hour and a half naps and sleep until at least 6am. Unfortunately, he is now, waking up 45 minutes into his naps and quite content to sit up and look around. Sadly (for me...a non-morning person), the same thing is happening at 5:45 every morning. He is quite pleased with himself. I, however, am less and less pleased with this sitting / sleeping situation.

I suppose I should be thankful that he doesn't wake up crying. He's content to play in his crib.

I am wondering if we will ever get our sleeping schedule back?

Despite all this, he is still the cutest little boy in the world. Here he is sitting on our back deck in his 2nd snowstorm. Can you believe we had 3 inches of snow?

Sitting.....on his own!

To say we are excited is an understatement. I just happened to be holding the camera, when I noticed what was happening. So, this is a look at Chesson's 1st time getting from his tummy to a sitting position. You may want to turn the volume down on your computer...my voice is a bit high pitched from all the excitement:o) Way to go little man!!

Happy Half Birthday

I just cannot believe it has been 6 months since Chesson was born. I can honestly say it has flown by. He is truly a wonderful addition to our family, and he is the happiest little boy I have ever seen. Here are a few of Chesson's recent milestones.

• He is sitting up unassisted, but he can't get to the sitting position on his own just yet.

• He LOVES to play in his exersaucer. He bounces, stands, grabs, and laughs at the music.

• As you already know, he graduated to his big boy car seat.

• Chesson really enjoys putting weight on his legs (aka standing). He can stand and balance himself pretty well these days. This is one of my favorite pictures of him because it really shows off his thunder thighs...check out those rolls. He's just so squeezable!!

This is a great shot of his thighs and his great big belly!! Love it!!

• We finally broke down and cut his hair. It was getting in his eyes, so Corbin trimmed it a little. Here's a pic of his new shorter hair. He's also enjoying constant drooling and chewing on his bottom lip - so he's got a bit of a chapped chin:o)

• Peek-a-Boo is a game that brings lots of giggles in this house - especially when Chesson plays with his dad. (I could only capture about half of his face because I have to hide from him...otherwise, he'll just stare at the camera.)

Movin' On Up

As many of you know...Chesson is a rather large fella. (Who doesn't love a chunky baby?) He's almost 6 months old, and I just couldn't lug him around in his infant car seat anymore (my arms were literally getting bruised). He was really too big for it anyway. So, we have moved on up to the big boy car seat. Thanks to Gigi and G'daddy for this wonderful Christmas gift!!

Kid Mania

It seems to be reunion time with many of my dearest friends from App. ~ Sabrina came over last weekend to spend some time with Chesson...and me:o) We had a great time catching up in person.

Then, on Sunday afternoon Sunday, BellaRose, Annie, and Will arrived in Raleigh. They stayed with Ashlee. On Monday, another college friend Elisabeth came for a day with her 2 children, Molly and Myles. We had a wonderful 3 days talking, laughing, and chasing children. -- We ate great food, drank great wine, and laughed until our bellies ached. I wish I had a picture to post.

Now, if only we can get well. Chesson and I seem to be passing a cold back and forth to each other. I'm tired of blowing my nose, and he's tired of me using the "sucker" on his nose.

5 months old

This has been a busy month. Here are few highlights...in no particular order. 1. Chesson is a pro at rolling over, in any direction. Show-off. -- 2. He loves his Jumpster.

3. We visited 3 ophthalmologists, 1 neurologist, 1 oncologist....had a catheter, a brain MRI, and chest x-ray. (If you ever need a specialist, call me....I know some great ones.)

4. We learned that Chesson is visually impaired...and then we learned what that means:o)

5. We were accepted to the Governor Morehead School for the Blind, and we have a vision therapist that comes to our house each week to help Chesson's eye muscles develop & to help him learn to do things that may come easier to other children. Amazing.

--- 6. He started sitting on his own (using his arms as a tripod) for a few seconds at a time. Adorable.

7. He is thinking about skipping his 3rd nap (yikes).

8. Chesson experienced his first snow storm - 4 1/2 inches (or at least Raleigh's version of a snow storm).
